Anita Ekberg

Anita Ekberg, a Swedish actress and performer who resided in Sweden during in the 1950s and 1970s. was featured in a variety of European films and American films. Her most renowned role was in the dramatic comedy film "La Dolce Vita". In 1960, the film received the Golden Palm and an Oscar by the Cannes Film Festival. The film also received critically and commercial success. Born in Skane, Sweden, she did a stint as a model prior to her acting career. Then she won the Miss Sweden contest. After her move to US she started acting in several movies, playing small role. The first role she was credited with was in the movie "Abbott and Co. Go to Mars in which she played a Venusian guard. The film was later awarded the Golden Globe award in the "Most Promising Youngcomer" section after her performance in the film "Blood Alley'. She appeared in several other films over the course of her career. This includes the War Drama between Italy and America 'War and Peace,' and the Western film "Valerie", the British Adventure Crime film "The Man Inside and also The French and Italian thriller The Dam on the Yellow River.
